Partnership - Brazil
Universidade Federal do Paraná
Founded in 1912, the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) is considered the oldest university in Brazil. Since its very beginning, UFPR has remained one of the most prestigious comprehensive universities in the country, standing out both nationally and internationally.Inteligencia Esportiva Research Institute (IPIE) from UFPR aims to produce, analyse, and disseminate information about sport policies in Brazil. IPIE has 10 years of history, and during this time worked with many national and international partners in order to develop projects related to sports management and governance. IPIE has an online database that includes information from national sports organisations, sport infrastructure, and funding for sports at the national level, which allows researchers, scholars, and other stakeholders to have a better understanding and a global view of the development of policies for sports in the country. The work produced by the Institute has been used by sport organisations to improve their management and governance tools, and also to discuss the planning and implementation of sport policies by them. With these experiences and expertise, IPIE can contribute to the SEMASC project by assisting with the data collection in Brazil, by establishing contact with the Brazilian Sport Organization and Brazilian Sport Clubs, also working in partnership with the European team to translate and adjust research tools and instruments. IPIE can contribute to the organisation of workshops related to the project topic, in Brazil and Latin America.
